Liaise with Control regarding all matters. -Relate closely with vessel command. Regular monitor Gate/Delivery areas. Core Responsibilities -Arrive for duty as per timing and report to Wharf Superintendent for assignment. -In case of incoming vessels obtain file from planning, distribute Tally sheets etc to Crane/Vessel operation assistants. -In case of ongoing vessels ensure that there is a proper handover to incoming staff. -Check vessel file during takeover and communicate with stowage planner in case of any not manifested/not bay planned units or regarding any other requirements from agent. -Instruct Crane Operator regarding boom up/down and positioning of cranes at points of work. -Ensure that communication channels inclusive of RDT assigned to Vessel/Crane assistants are functioning. -Instruct Crane/Vessel operation assistants regarding commencement of operations. -Coordinate with control and work according to crane work lists unless otherwise advised -Ensure that that there is a quick turnaround of Tractors and other equipment. servicing the vessel. -Endeavour to solve operational problems that may arise, in case of doubt bring the matter to the notice of Wharf Superintendent -Prepare prescribed formats for the following (If any) and obtain signatures from Vessel command/Agent accordingly. a) Short landed units b) Shut out units c) Damage units. d) On the job accidents –( Inform Control Immediately) e) Any other exception which requires to be attested by Vessel Command/Agent. -Ensure that necessary man/machinery is set up to ensure that operations are carried out as per prescribed safety measures and terminal standards. Essential Skills and Knowledge -Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 3 to 5 years previous experience in a similar role -Literate and numerate and with some experience of gate / Yard operations -Some experience in a port terminal or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
