To perform this role you will be able to demonstrate a full understanding of the principles and technologies behind Automated Remote Deployment of applications. You will also have proven skills in packaging desktop software using the Wise Enterprise Studio and associated Microsoft technologies listed below. You will have at least three year's experience in these skills. You will ideally have experience in providing support to a global client from a remote central location and will be used to dealing with customers from varying backgrounds. You will have strong analytical and solution finding skills with a clear logical approach to problem identification and analysis. As this role involves the management of an overall process you will have a structured approach to managing your work, be self-organised and adaptable to varying demands in your workload. Your approach to work will require a good attention to detail and you will take pride in your work as a Support professional . You will also be able to demonstrate commitment to your work and flexibility in dealing with unforeseen operational requirements. You will have the ability to quickly adapt to new Systems and Business rules or standards which will affect your work. In particular you will show an interest in acquiring new skills and responsibilities in order to adapt to the work required of your team. Key Responsibilities This is a specialist senior software packaging role within our Desktop Support Team using Wise Enterprise Studio. Your principle responsibility will be to manage the software packaging process for Global Project deliverables to ensure that new and updated software is correctly packaged ready for distribution. Detailed Activities Include: Primary focus of this role is to deliver packages for Global Projects Management of the overall packaging process including interaction with other contributors to the process such as users and testers . Tracking of the overall packaging process via the use of an internal workflow tool . Receipt and validation of packaging requests to include due diligence on the scope and appropriateness of a request Creation of Software Packaging technical specifications based on a validated user request, internal standards and acquired knowledge of the Desktop Environment Development of the appropriate software package(s) in line with agreed specifications and internal packaging standards Unit Test packages created against specifications Import newly created packages into a testing environment and co-ordinate with testing teams to instigate testing and to resolve issues encountered during testing In addition, as part of the Desktop Team, you will have the opportunity to become involved in the following Windows XP Desktop Support – reactive troubleshooting and planned maintenance of the Windows desktop Environment and its associated applications (including Office 2007) Software Distribution using HPCM Software Distribution and Troubleshooting of escalated user issues within HPCM Group Policy Management – Identification of issues affecting Desktop Policy and analysis of the impact of required changes on Client security policies Project Support – Desktop Build & Issue Fix Activity for project work as need basis
